The making of a Show Garden...

Part of my dream has been to have a show garden where I could test out new varieties, try interesting plant combinations, and bring clients to help them visualize ideas for their own spaces. I needed running water, a cut flower garden, an English border, peonies galore, and room to play. In 2023 it was time to make the dream real.

Boulders, Dirt, and stumps...

I should have taken more before photos, but I guess that I didn't because I hated our back yard. It was an enormous central patch of pachysandra that was full of poison ivy and a couple of sad looking, half-dead trees. The first step was creating a mostly clean slate with the exception of a few evergreens that could be saved. My husband Adam and I did most of the labor ourselves, and it was no small task.
